Megha Bansal is a luxury Indian couture brand, inspired by the imperfections of the ordinary. It has always been an inherent part of the brand’s ideology to produce garments with utmost unique techniques and practices, which makes it stand out in the Indian couture pursuit. I have worked with Megha Bansal on two of her collections being Maanjha and Phirni as a creative editor, visual artist and model. My work for the brand is inspired by the idea to celebrate the amalgamation of rich ancient past with a contemporary approach. What led to the inception of the label was her passion to bring and create something new, the need of slow fashion and adding a new dimension to the Indian couture market.

MEGHA BANSAL BRIDAL COUTURE 2023
Rightly so they said, opulent silk costumes do lend an old world charm...
Carrying this charm were the Indian courtesans, women with bewitchingly fulsome physique, golden radiance and the voice of a cuckoo, in their early twenties.
'Their feet like wings those of a hamsa bird, also what derives Megha Bansal's signature artwork and invites you to her world of art filled with meticulously hand-crafted garments- a pure celebration of love.
'The timeless and eloquent verses of the celebrated poets and the delicate, sensuous moves of the well-known courtesans bring alive an untold love story, Pyaari Jaan' - a beautiful blend of history, literature and the ethereal garments that ruled the world.
It was an era when much was left unsaid in romance. Letters were written in secret and a world of dreams was built in the heart. In keeping with the spirit of the time, I have used my imagination to show the bonding between the two through my latest couture collection and campaign showcasing brand's much celebrated "'noor vrit artwork (vrit refers to a circular shape in hindi), distinctive silhouettes such as the
"petal lehenga" inspired by goddess saraswati's lotus flower, the vahana of goddess saraswati, hamsa birds adorning the garments, heritage embroideries and gleaming compositions.

The campaign utilises a color palette consisting of gold and dark magenta to reflect the essence of the collection and tell the captivating story of Indian courtesans. These colors were carefully chosen to symbolize the regal nature of these women, who were revered as queens for the night. Additionally, the brand identity incorporates elements of the moon and stars, further emphasizing the enchanting qualities associated with the courtesans. This branding served as a tribute to these remarkable individuals, highlighting the aspects that resonated most with their beauty and charm.
It also emphasises the profound distinction between the moon and stars, illustrating that despite falling within the same celestial category, they exist miles apart. The moon represented the Indian courtesans, while the stars symbolized the emperors of that era, showcasing the vast difference between the two.
